James “JW” Papez leads the civil engineering services for Peaks to Plains Design. As a project manager, he applies civil engineering solutions, drawing upon his twelve years of experience in this region, in addition to Michigan and California. His engineering expertise includes site layout and grading, water and sewer design and rehabilitation, storm water hydrology and hydraulic analysis, roadway rehabilitation and reconstruction, erosion and sediment control and non-motorized transportation projects.
Complimenting his technical expertise, he supports the firm’s planning efforts through the analysis of complex systems, facilitating stakeholder discussions and recommending solutions for long-term capital improvement plans. His projects have received award-winning recognition for roadway reconstruction. Those projects also included storm water collection and conveyance, water main replacement and non-motorized transportation improvements.
While “efficient” engineering solutions are a foundation for success, consider JW’s expertise when you also need a civil engineer who understands the big picture and how land form integrates into spaces for people. His collaborative ethic contributes to thoughtful outcomes that save clients time and money.
Gordon Lemmel engages landscape architecture by exploring the interactions between people and the surrounding natural and built environments. As part of the Peaks to Plains Design team, he is the firm’s “go-to-guy,” known for his ability to fuse creativity and functionality. Gordon is sought after to not only conceive imaginative designs, but also to use his strong technical background to bring the designs to life. While he is able to develop quick freehand sketches to convey initial design ideas, Gordon is highly skilled at using the latest computer-aided design programs to aid in the visualization of a project and improve the overall understanding of the work.
Gordon’s professional experience in public, private and non-profit industries, in addition to his experience as a landscape construction foreman, has provided him with the ability to view projects through many different “lenses.” Gordon is able to approach a project from not only the viewpoint the client, but also from the viewpoint of the contractor. His application of this background further provides the team with a deep understanding of project feasibility and cost.
Most importantly, Gordon possesses the skills and know-how to make the design process easy. His strong communication, design and technical skills will help formulate and implement your vision to a high level of success.
