Institutional and LEED Design
Peaks to Plains Design PC was part of a contractor-led design-build team for the Veteran’s Administration Benefit’s Office at Fort Harrison, Helena, Montana. Incorporating the principles of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED, into the project was a high priority. Among those principles included the re-use of storm water run-off, lawns which need half the amount of water, incorporating native plants and highly efficient irrigation system design were some of the techniques utilized. LEED accreditation is still pending with US Green Building Council.
With over 17 percent of Montana’s Military Veterans living in Yellowstone County, Peaks to Plains Design is honored to lead the design team for a new Veteran’s Cemetery. This is the first veteran’s cemetery that is being funded at a local level and built to national standards. We developed the master plan, working closely with veterans and an advisory council, which includes over 45 acres. The design provides capacity for Veteran interments for the next 75 years. Phase 1 includes the first 9 acres of the cemetery is scheduled for ground-breaking on Memorial Day 2008.
