EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES

Peaks to Plains Design is part of a multi-disciplinary team tasked with the redevelopment of the school grounds for Big Horn, Wyoming. As a part of a multi-phase process, the elementary playground includes two phases. The first includes a traditional playground where climbing bars, balance beams, obstacle courses are the key features of the site. The traditional playground serves as a temporary playground for the K-2 grade kids. A permanent playground has been established for 3-5 grades and consists of modular equipment and a NEOS outdoor gaming system.

A new junior high and high school facility is currently under construction, and Peaks to Plains Design provided the perimeter landscape and irrigation plans for the campus. The design included reverse-designing in order to ensure the third phase of the project fits into the overall plan. A new elementary building will be constructed starting in late 2009.

As a landscape architecture firm, Peaks to Plains Design is able to provide many of the services that are needed to develop and implement your community’s Safe Routes to School Program. Peaks to Plains Design will work with community advocates, engineers and government agencies for a holistic approach to developing and implementing your plan.

Services related to safe routes to school programs include assistance with writing grants, establishing base line conditions, generating public interest, collaborating with law enforcement, development of design solutions, conducting education programs and setting up post-evaluation reporting measures of success.

Peaks to Plains Design has an on-staff a Certified Instructor by the League of American Bicyclists. Anthony Pratt (LCI #2582) can teach bicycle riding courses that address evasive maneuvers, on-street riding techniques, group riding principles and bicycle equipment maintenance. The courses are effective for the most inexperienced child rider to experienced adults alike.
